So today I went to the gym and I just happened to be wearing my Henry Foss Super Fan t-shirt. I didn't think anything special about it. When I was stretching there was a guy in front of me motioning to my shirt, so I took out my earphones and just kind of looked at him. He asked me if I went to Foss and I just kind of smiled and nodded. He looked to be about 35 or 40 and he said he had graduated a while ago, kind of laughing, you could tell he was reminiscing slightly. I told him I had just graduated this past June. He could have just nodded his head and went back to his workout but he smiled big and said congratulations you should be proud. I did. I really did. I find it strange that two people who normally would probably never talk to each other can find common terms with something like a common high school. The fact that he had such fond memories for Foss that he would tell a fellow falcon congratulations even when they aren't apart of the same generation really made me think of all my experiences at Foss. It made me realize that I truly was happy that I had attended the Home of the Falcons. I think of all my teachers, all the people I met, and all of the priceless moments that I experienced, and I realize that I truly am lucky to have attended that school. I wouldn't be who I am today if I had gone anywhere else. I always thought that after I left the home of the green and gold I would never be able to speak the old motto, "Everyday is a great day when I can say, I'm a Henry Foss Falcon full of spirit and pride and I love to hold it down for Henry Foss High". This encounter though taught me that I will always be a Falcon even 50 years from now, I will always have a connection to the past, present, and future of Henry Foss High School.
